These last twenty years of diplomatic relations between Spain and Israel have facilitated the mutual understanding of our cultural and artistic worlds.

This exhibition of works by Rita Martorell is a contribution of the first order to this end.

The artist is in full control of her technique and in a decisive moment with respect to her sensitivity and trajectory.

There are artists who place the rupture with their predecessors as an essential objective in their works. And unconsciously they cite their value in this negation, which for them holds the key to their own originality. As a consequence, one way or another they repeat this negation throughout their work. They repeat themselves with this initial determination. Others on the contrary continue to assimilate contributions from their surroundings throughout their career, and overcome them in each moment of personal creation. In this way originality is not for them an act of will, but the result of integration and renewal. This is the case of Rita Martorell, an example of non-transferable originality and with a capacity for evolution.

All the possibilities of painting exist in each body painted and interpreted by Rita Martorell.

A work of art is somenthing more than the chosen subject; it is a breviary of the possibilities of an interpretation. If one is not faithful to the end, if the result does not overcome the end, then it is not left open to all the possibilities of its development.

This is somenthing more than its theme and circumstances. It attracts the attention to what is and what can and will be.

The realism of Rita Martorell in these bodies is the starting point for suggestion and interpretation. Those who contemplate them are invited to participate, not in beauty but in reflection. Realism open and complementary to all reality.
